Transitions
Life can change us, quick or slow.
Sometimes, change will stay.
The change may in a time we know
become a wondrous day.
The Joy becomes a grown-up lass,
who flies away to be
a lovely lady with her pass
to live in surety.
Her dad retires to stop the spin
of daily clocks and tasks
in order to a new life win
to help when someone asks.
When Joy comes next to graduate
to find her career as trained,
I'll with great pride in her elate
with heart both full and drained.
This life for her a book begins,
for me some chapters, new.
The letting go emotion rends,
but growth means risk we do.
When life is o'er, Forever seen,
to stand in Christ alone.
The Joy in Him will make Earth lean
as ever lands be grown.
Transitions start when mothers' birth
their babies here to live.
This life makes death, the birth of worth
when Christ Salvation gives.
Transitions mean, that we're alive
as something new is wrought.
Something has passed to make New thrive,
The Gift One Lord has brought.
