Parlassa leaned on the balcony railing, her gaze drawn to the sky. A bird made entirely of smoke drifted across the red evening horizon, its wings twisting and unfurling like curling wisps of mist. It glided silently, leaving trails of ephemeral gray that vanished before they touched the air, a fleeting shadow against the burning sky.
