DANCE

The memories whirl
The thoughts prance
The ideas flash
Words dance

I'm not a dancer
I have two left feet
Yet this prompt
Sets up the beat

The time I led
Fifty students astray
Turning 'left' (not right)
and they followed anyway

The time I ran
off the stage
during a performance
embarrassing image!

The time I counted wrong
In a 'dandiya raas' circle
Confusing a hundred people
Making spectators chuckle

Oh, I'm not the first
In my family
To be a non-dancer
There was Mom, before me

When she got engaged to Dad
and he led her to the floor
She didn't dance a step
Just giggled more and more!

But you know, this prompt
Makes words dance in my head
So - not with shoes shall I tap
But with a pen instead!
