In an interview with Nolala, SYML explains that the final song is instrumental and the title “Before You Knew It Was Me” alludes to that point in love where you stop just having fun and realize: ‘This is it. I think that you’re my person.‘ There’s something that switches and everything from then on would be different. It doesn’t make it better or worse, it’s a change. You see it through a lens.
For me, “Before You Knew It Was Me” feels like moving forward. Musically I wanted it to be like ‘Who knows what is coming next? Let’s go together though.'
