I'm sending you a beautiful green fern,
And a box of crackers to relieve your heartburn.

I'm sorry that my cooking made your stomach churn,
And caused you to throw up in the coffee urn.

It's your forgiveness I hope these gifts will earn,
Or at least your anger to compassion turn.

Please, ask the court this lawsuit to adjourn,
It's your friendship for which I now yearn.
