If Only

A new celebrity mom, I read today,
no longer shaves her legs, those
limbs receive no pampering
since the arrival of the one in Pampers.
And such a revelation
hit the internet with all the
love, respect, envy and loathing
you would expect.

I cannot say I am as disinterested
as I should be in a stranger’s leg hair
or the struggle to remain smooth
and unwrinkled although,
I would never be admired for my stubble.
I wonder, if only I had become famous
if only I were a television star
then would my decline in hygiene
be celebrated as a sacrifice for humanity?
