a splash in the pool
sweet wet watermelon
the pop of a groundhog's head, up from the earth
skin stinging with the sun's heat
playing "kick the can" at dusk
butter dripping from corn on the cob
uniform of the day, shorts and sandals
brilliant bougainvillea climbing the walls
campfires
trail rides into the wilderness
cicada's singing
sparks from fireflies in the dark
lovemaking under the stars
