Deputy

A fixed brick wall,
solid, cool and tall.
Some say, a hard man,
uncompromising enforcer
for peace and justice,
stoic and strong.

When things go wrong,
he hides his tears
and buries his fears,
but I can hear the strained
beat of his injured heart
behind the barricade.
