Another Way Home (Thieves in the Temple)
Prince's song that I used is called, Thieves in the Temple. These are the lyrics I used as a refrain in my poem:

"Kicking me in my heart,
tearing me all apart
'Cause me and you
could have been a work of art"

Another Way Home

He found another way to work,
less overtime, treatment much like dirt
Copper-lined with endless pennies
Money paid, hours much less plenty

Tired of being pushed around,
Pivot left and stand his ground
Shifting this way first, then that
It fit less like gloves, more like hat

So, once the pain can't seem to mend,
Medicine roulette, relief no end
Doctor says no more left here to save
Toss patient aside, fill the grave
