Out of Fashion: My Untouched Genre
This is another post for 26 paychecks. The task of this fortnight was to write about a genre that I haven't had a chance to delve into. I was looking through Writing.com's browse by genres and realized I've actually covered a lot of these in one form or another. If I haven't outright written a story or article encompassing a listed genre before, I've at least brainstormed for it. You can thank the activities hosted on this site for really expanding my range so widely. It was hard to find a genre that I hadn't tackled yet. I briefly considered Western as one of my writing gaps but I have a Cowboy who features heavily in one of my early storylines. It was after going through the list more closely a second time that I happened to find fashion genre listed and I instantly knew that that genre would fill this entry. The reason I have never written any fashion related pieces is I'm not really the best person to cover the topic.

My sense of Style is similar to Sheldon's from the Big Bang Theory where I am content to wear a comic book / videogame or anime style T-shirt, sneakers and Jeans whenever possible. Any fashion related terms I have in my quiver are limited to Will and Grace or Seinfeld references and even with the former, I have only seen a couple of episodes here or there. I was in Walmart accompanying my girlfriend clothing shopping earlier this year and I was struggling to offer any good recommendations when she asked for help selecting clothing. I wound up giving her thumbs ups based on colors she looked good in and how the clothing fit her. I wish I was able to give her better advice. That said I got a few more fashion related terms from watching Confessions of a Shopaholic over the holidays with her recently but I don't think I will be anywhere close to being able to write any fashion related articles anytime soon.
