| Task 4 ▶︎ This is an easy one! Science Fiction and Fantasy. I have trouble understanding the stories. The terminology is foreign to me, which makes it difficult to fully understand what is going on. And so, for the same reason, I avoid writing in either of those genres. To effectively write stories in the genres I mentioned, I think the writer needs to be passionate about the topic. Passion for the topic is also essential for writers of romance, thrillers, and other genres. I just don’t have the passion or creativity for Science Fiction or Fantasy. However, there are certain shows I have enjoyed: Star Trek (the original) and Avatar. I don’t think I’d enjoy them as much if I had to read them, though. I would struggle to understand the terminology and figure out how to pronounce names, places, equipment, etc. And I could never write anything as engaging. Thinking on this a bit further, there are quite a few stories in the fantasy genre I have read and enjoyed a lot. But, they didn’t involve space travel, space ships, etc. They took place on Earth with pronounceable names and no special equipment. Even so, I need to reiterate that I lack the skill to even pull off a fantasy story. 210 words |
