What’s outside?
After the keen still days of September, the October sun filled the world with mellow warmth...The maple tree in front of the doorstep burned like a gigantic red torch. The oaks along the roadway glowed yellow and bronze. The fields stretched like a carpet of jewels, emerald and topaz and garnet. Everywhere she walked the color shouted and sang around her." —Elizabeth George Speare, The Witch of Blackbird Pond

Prompt: Describe what you see surrounding you as Ms.Speare did.

After the winter, the October sun is welcome. The Australian bush is alive with wildflowers. They patiently take their turns as first come the bright yellow of the Wattles, appearing as if there are millions of yellow balls of fluff gathering together. As they fade away and lose their blossoms, other take their place. I don’t know the names as there are literally thousands of plants of different hues.

It’s actually breathtaking in its fecundity. The trees are washed clean of the summer dust, they are invigorated, leaves glossy and dew-drenched on this spring morning. The birds are nesting in my Lillypilly tree just outside my back door. The parent birds are extremely busy today stealing the coconut fibre from the hanging baskets to build a nest.
I feel the warmth of the sun on my back as I walk through this, my home.
