The Swing
Back and forth I go,
Two steps forward, two steps back;
Carrying various loads upon myself.
Feeling like nothing is accomplished.

Then I hear the laughter
Of children having fun.
The gaiety of going higher and higher,
As though breaking from earth's gravity.

Then it doesn't feel so bad
Just sitting here in silence.
With the echoes of laughter
Dwelling in my mind.
