Today is your birthday Suzette
Wednesday, 2025, October 8
I miss you and the whole family
That includes your smiling beauty.

How fast time flies, I was working with you
In the multinational company for a decade or so
You as the strict and beautiful manager
Me, as the receptionist of the information counter.

You gave me orders: Tell the messenger
To bring this Manila envelopes there and there
With addresse that need to be signed right away
As quick as it can as a special delivery.

You asked me , " Why are you wearing high heels
When you're so tall , you need to wear slippers
I laughed and said , " Slippers that cannot be
In this big multinational company "

"What's your shoes size ? " She asked
Size 10, as if answering her was a task
"What ? Giant feet ! " She screamed in a loud voice
"Oh..I am five feet 6 inches tall, I have no choice."

The following day a big box was delivered iny name
" What's that ? " My officemate's asked again and again
I opened the box it contains a dozen pair of shoes
All flat one, no heels and are all with black gloss.

She called, " Did you receive my gift for You ? "
Adding words " Hoping you wear it too "
Hahahaha I answered with a laugh and " Thank You "
She replied " You are welcome with " I like You ".

That started a wonderful friendship for both of us
Having our own family turned out friends too and alas
Every special occasion in her lavish parties
Every time of Sweet togetherness...

My husband eventually became friends with her brothers
Who are also very active scuba divers
Whereever she travels my family received souvenirs
All because her heart always remembers.

Today is your Birthday my dearest friend far away
You are in Metro Manila I am in Cebu where I say
Far yet so near to my heart forever
