Another mini-Sprint

To continue my explanation of my writing journey. I was very intense/intent about writing before the fateful day when I started a robotics team. I was approached by the principal at my school concerning an email from a parent, The short message was that his place of work was offering a grant to any high school who was interested in starting a robotics team/ I jumped at the chance. After dping a little research, I described the three possible programs we might join. One was developed by the University of Oklahoma BotBall, the other was not accpeting new teams and the third was the one mentioned by the parent, it was called FIRST Robotics (For the Inspiration of Science and Technology. Since they were offereing the grant, that is the way we went.

The information came in like a firehose, more than I couold tsake in, There were so many moving parts. I decided to jump in and we would build a robot, My students were excited and junmped right in. We had no tools, no knowledge of mechanics and a very small space to work in.
That first robot was dubbed the "ghetto" bot by the kids since we had uses plywood, chicken wire and duck tape to pout it together, My internak goal was for the robot to move. anything other than that woulod beicing. As it happended we managed to score some points and did not end up dead last!
The fallolwinf fall I got an email about an additional program we could do, with another grant, Since the first one only ran from January thrpough april, having one that started in september would engage my students all year. I eagerly accepted, Then , much to my surprise, my granddaughter said she wanted to do robotics, too, I was delighted that she was interested as a first grader. After talking to her school I found myself coaching my granddaughters team as well as co=coaching the upper elementary team. As a result, I found my self with 4 teams. FIRST has a progressin of programs.
