Honestly, it's not even the edit you need to worry about, especially on a first novel. The real chance is you will have to rewrite the novel, but that is an important stage of the writing process too. What NaNoWriMo does in particular is helps get out a very rough first draft. And it gets you to the point where instead of saying "I want to write a novel" you can say "I have written a draft of a novel."

My first attempts were really bad, even attempt number 3, which was my first time making it to 50k.

But having done rewrites and edits, yes it is going to be hard. Whether you wrote it in one month or 2 years, fixing books and making them better isn't easy. It's worth it in the end.

Just it's hard to get to the end if you don't first write. So, I say worry about the finer points later and just write. You may have a terrible draft, you may even have a novel you can not use at all, but it will help you learn, improve and continue writing in the future. You can get something out of the challenge either way.
