It would be helpful to understand exactly how the devil plays into this... Is it a false lead the witches create for those who believe the devil has something to do with the craft? Are you writing about Pratical Magick type witches, or Hocus Pocus/ Harry potter kind of witches? Personally, and this is just because I have spent so much time over the years dealing with ignorance, the terms white witch and black witch bother me. There is no such thing. Every witch, walks in the shades of grey. Even the best intended spell can inadvertantely make something worse for someone else thus making it. "black magick" Magick itself is neutral. You can spin it, twist it, knit it together with knitting needles or tie knots in a rope and it won't make a difference. Crowley said Love is the Law love under will. So lets say your neighbor keeps planting a kind of flower that your allergic to and won't stop. You decide to put a binding spell on her that makes her plant a different flower. That is working against someones free will and would fall under the common definition of black magick. But, if you can convince yourself that the real reason is you love her enough to want to her to win the gardening club award that year, then your doing her a favor and it's now white magick.. Only Good old Al Crowley could ever be that self deluded. I can do a spell to help someone get a new organ, and cause someone elses death. That might not be what I intended but If I didn't do the work to find out what havoc the spell would cause, then what started out as a very good thing for someone in need could turn into a form of unintended murder. Magick all magick is grey. It's grey because once it leaves you, you have very little control over it and it is nearly impossible to call back to you. It's grey because before you tap into the energy it has no direction to be bad or good. In Practical Magick they do a spell to bring someone back from the dead. It invoked hecate and what came back was just wrong. You can't do this kind of spell and get back the person just like they were before. There will always be something wrong about them.. You can work that into your plot, perhaps but it makes things so much more difficult. The exception to that is ;perhaps if you create an amulet that her soul transfers to. It might be possible then that as long as she is wearing the amulet she is normal, because she has her soul. But, once your dead, and I mean for longer than a few minutes, your soul moves on without you. Ive met people who have had near death experiences who just weren't there anymore. You look in their eyes and the lights are on but nobodies home. At best you will get that at worse you will get something else much more zombie like. Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with the traditional idea of the witch and magick as long as it's comical. We don't take ourselves seriously unless someone else seems to think the image is what a witch really is. Then we get way to serious way to fast. :) ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** "Invalid Item" "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" "Invalid Item" Check out my Rising Stars Bookiemonster ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
