(Maia quickly hands the young servant girl a note and says “Make sure you are not followed as you return. Be careful, dear one, I fear for your safety. Thank you Aurelia. “ They embrace and Maia walks back to her companions)

“I am sorry friends, my absence from my home is starting to bring questions and I am afraid that I will be required to return soon.

Jesus, is surely a man but something much more. He seems to take nothing for himself, which makes him quite different from all other dissenters my people have dealt with. We have seen him with our own eyes. Yet, the centurion we heard of, who is certainly someone of great power himself, understood and believed that the mere presence of Jesus was not required for him to heal.” That story caused me to marvel. How did that centurion know this? What was it about being the presence of Jesus that gave him the unwavering confidence that healing would occur?

I find this amazing and so I am convinced that even though I watched Jesus walk with two human legs down into the river, there is so much more to him. The fact that so many, many people, including ourselves are drawn to him and feel his power, his compassion, his strength has taught me that this is not some magician’s trick, some powerful human charisma…. No, my friends, Jesus is unique, and what has been said of him, he is the son of God, if not God himself.

Why does Jesus go against the powers that be, continue to work miracles and teach truths that offend those in authority? My only answer would be, it is because he is committed to his task, even in the face of mortal danger. Why else would be do this, unless he is crazy, and I do not believe even a lunatic would perservere in the face of such pressure. He knows us, understands us and right or wrong that means we must “see” to believe sometimes.

I look forward to meeting Jesus, being in his presence. After that, perhaps even I, will have some of his courage and strength to speak up. I am afraid my husband will be sorely displeased. “
