I wasn't sure where this story would end up but I was happy how it turned out. Without your contest it would not have been written, so thank you.
1865 words... I hope the 865 will not be a problem. I did remove a fair bit of the story in accordance to the guidelines, however flexible... but it seems I have yet to master the art of removing all unessentials and still having a story that's worth reading. If the 865 bothers you please let me know.
