The way i think about it is everything in english is there for a reason, and each is as good as the other. Hwoever, anything overused is also abused. Since we're all really learners on here they tell us not to use them at all (adverbs, ly ending words, etc). That way when we do slip them in there ends up being a lot less, and they're much more affective.
