Stan blinked, his eyes stabbed by light. He tried to move his arm to cover them, but pain shot through his shoulder. A moan escaped his throat.

“Easy, now,” came a low, masculine voice. “You’ve been hurt. You’re in a hospital.”

“A-“ Stan’s voice cracked. He licked his lips and swallowed. “A hospital? What is it?”

“It’s a big building with doctors, but that’s not important right now.”

Stan managed a chuckle. “Airplane, 1980. Jim Abrahams and David Zucker.” He focused on the owner of the voice: dark brown hair, clean-shaven, wearing scrubs.

The man smiled. “Your info shows you’re a professional movie critic. And they do say laughter is the best medicine.”

“What happened?” asked Stan.

“You were in a theater. There was an explosion. Some are saying gas main, but others... others suspect foul play.”

Stan closed his eyes again and grimaced. “Ah. That explains it, then.”

The man sounded puzzled. “Explains what?”

“The movie.”

Stan said no more. After a moment, the brown-haired man prompted him, “What about the movie?”

“I told them,” Stan whispered. “I told them it would bomb.”
