Enough yard work.

The only problem with nice days is trying to do three days worth of work in one day. Oh my aching back, but the yard is in tip top shape again. Somehow, that always cheers me and make the aches worth it. And I am definitely greateful for the warm, sunny days.

I even started some tomato plants from seed Saturday although I may be a little late. We normally have our last frost between March 1st and 15th so I may not have eight weeks but that's okay...it's fun anyway. We'll see what happens. I can smell those green tomato plants already...nothing like it. When I was a little girl, my pop-pop raised tomatoes on his farm, and, in the summer heat, I would take him a Mason jar of cold water to drink. With a salt shaker in my pocket, I would plunk down right in the field, pick a fat juicy warm tomato and have a feast. Juice would drip down my chin but a sleeve would make short work of that. I wonder if kids who live on farms do that now? I suspect not. Their pop-pops or whoever are probably riding in air-conditioned tractors with all the conveniences of the kitchen at their fingertips. They don't know what they're missing.

Last night's Downton Abbey (PBS) was another great show, the last of this series, but, in the fine priint at the end, it said a second series was in the works. I'm glad because they left tons of unanswered questions. I love shows about the personal lives of English nobility and their servants, and a little history is involved as well. Perfect...
