Day to day stuff....a memoir without order. |
I did get to the Friends of the Library Booksale today. It looked like a garden of genres. Tables and tables loaded and each with its own posted sign identifying its crop...oops, genre. As promised, I went straight to the science fiction. After looking and looking to find something that remotely interested me (the grounded in realism person that I am) I finally selected one by Michael Crichton..."A Case of Need". Is this really science fiction or was it on the wrong table? It only said fiction inside. I will soon find out.... I had the same old parking problem, sneaking into the back of another bank's parking lot and then hearing the announcement over the intercom saying if you were parked in Sun Bank's lot, you would be towed. Even though I wasn't in Sun Bank, I worried the entire time. Plus, the sale is in a warehouse type building and the high temperature today was 91 degrees...again. But it was worth it. I got some great fiction, some drawing books, lots of old vhs tapes for Jim that looked like new...The Horse Whisperer, Ben Hur, On Golden Pond, Forest Gump and more....they had scads! Plus the sale helps to buy new books for the library...a win win! Then, on the way home, I stopped at a fresh fruit and vegetable market and got some goodies. I've never tried starfruit but the name sounds intriguing. I got a couple of those, some mangoes, some bosc pears and some beautiful tomatoes...yum On another note, I'm taking a class here on wdc at New Horizons and one of the instructors posted a very interesting link for submissions of short stories. I just signed up for an account...if anyone is interested, the link is www.glimmertrain.com. I'm thinking of submitting my Blueberry Picking story for the October Family submissions.....maybe. Well, I can't wait to start looking at my book treasures so......till tomorrow.....c |
