Party Time
Prompts day 2: Story to include a party.

Barbara Millicent Roberts adjusted her flower-topped hat, smoothed her silk dress and rang the doorbell. A flustered housewife answered, wearing a stained apron.

“Greetings, ma'am. I received an invitation to a party at this address…?”

“I'm sorry! We must've mis-sent it. This is my daughter's sixth birthday party.”

A baking cake smelled wonderful. Children's laughter echoed from the kitchen, stirring faded memories. She smiled hesitantly.

“May I join?”

By the end, Barbara's silk dress was splattered with glitter and cake. Her hat now belonged to the overjoyed birthday girl. Barbara thanked heaven it was not a “grownup” party after all.
